Welcome to our Website!
The Buck O'Neil Professional Baseball Scouts & Coaches Association was founded in honor of
the Late Legendary now Hall of Famer Buck O’Neil. He was the first African
American to coach in the Major Leagues and also one of the first to scout
full-time. Our association was created in an effort to provide a forum for
scouts/coaches to constructively share their passion for the game, in addition
to providing a place for Networking, Mentoring, and Professional Development.
Our membership has grown well over 200 members.
Buck touched the lives of so many people leaving a legacy that BOPBSCA wishes to continue through the goals of our association. Such as:
1) Support the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum(Kansas City, MO) founded by Buck O'Neil
2) Promote Baseball in our inner-cities by educating coaches and mentoring players through our annual clinics
3) Award scholarhips to students who have excelled in academia and who exhibits an interest in baseball
4) Continual Education of our Scouts/Coaches within our association
Our association is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to providing a wholesome professional environment in which to teach, develop and promote the fundamentals of baseball to athletes, coaches and scouts.
We have entered a fiscal sponsorship agreement with Resilience Partners(Chicago, IL) who along with their Founder & President, Deirdre Bates will serve as our direct nonprofit contact. Their mission of "Serving Those Who Serve Other" clearly aligns with the vision and purpose of our association, as well as the life of the Late and Legendary Buck O'Neil.
